Fitler Academy Plus – $4,500:  “Emerging Artists Youth Cafe”
Through the Picasso Project, we hope to bridge the gaps that exist between youth and adults, schools and communities, and the arts and curriculum. We want students to know their voices will be heard and can be expressed through a variety of mediums. Students will be exposed to visiting artists, (Hip Hop Fundamentals and Lamont Dixon), and the process of honing a craft while experiencing a unique opportunity to develop individuality and leadership skills. Students will then continue to make their voices heard as they take the lead in our post-café advocacy for arts in education while working alongside SoLo Germantown Civic Association. Our vision is to see this as the first annual Emerging Artists Youth Café. We are convinced, that without the funding and first-hand experience, The Emerging Artists Youth Café would be a “dream deferred,” or even denied. Please hear our voices so that we may hear theirs.
